Command Guide for LISTSERV listing owners If you are managing a LISTSERV mailing list using e-mail commands, they must exist sent in manifestly text. In Outlook, open a new message, select the "Format Text" tab in the ribbon, then select the "Obviously Text" option in the "Format" box. In Clemson Gmail, click on the "Compose" message push button, then in the lower left corner of the new bulletin, click on the "A" next to the "Send" button. Then click on the "Tx" button to switch to plain text. LISTSERV add together and delete commands should not be used on form lists. Course lists are updated daily, and so anyone removed manually from the listing will be re-added the next 24-hour interval. University lists that are organisation maintained and based on information in student or employee databases cannot exist updated via LISTSERV commands. These are lists such as "all faculty in dept 9999" or "all students in major lawmaking 9999". There are two reasons for this. Beginning, just like the class lists, these lists are updated every day, and anyone added or removed from the listing using e-mail commands will be removed or re-added. The 2d reason is that these lists run on a SYMPA listserver, non on a LISTSERV listserver. Transport email to ithelp@clemson.edu if you lot need changes to these lists. When performing a LISTSERV control, information technology should be emailed to listserv@lists.clemson.edu. The command should be in the body of the message, not the subject. The bulletin must use plain text. Anything in the torso of the message is perceived as a command, so whatever extraneous information (such equally a signature) tin can be removed from the message. You tin send multiple commands on seperate lines. When you send a command to the listing server, information technology will ask for confirmation for each control. To confirm the command, simply click on the link in the render bulletin from the listserver. If the list server receives no reply, it will not complete the command. If the command is non confirmed within 48 hours, it will exist cancelled. The ADD command allows the owner of the list to add together new members. Both the email address and the total proper noun of the person to add are required. If the proper name is unknown, replace it with an asterisk instead. The format of the control is: So, for example: To make someone an owner of the list, contact the Postmaster by sending an email to ithelp@clemson.edu. Include the proper name of the listing and the email addresses of the owners to be added and/or deleted. The DEL command (curt for DELETE) allows the owner of the list to driblet members. Like the Add command, the Delete control does not bear upon the grade roll, only the members of the mailing list. Unlike the Add together command, you do not demand to include a name. The format of the command is: So, for instance: The QUIET command can be prepended to an Add together or DELETE control. A Repose command does not send an email to the person being added or deleted. The format of the control is: or So, for case: or The REVIEW command returns all members of the mailing list. The format of the of the command is: Then, for example: LISTSERV Commands Must Be Sent in Plain Text
